We’re people-first care specialists making senior living placement solutions accessible, accurate, and dignified.
Our approach to senior care grew out of our own personal experience. In 2018, we (Michelle and Nicholas) were both Registered Nurses working in hospice care. Despite our deep knowledge and experience in providing compassionate end-of-life care, we were unprepared when the time came to seek help for Michelle’s grandmother, Veda.
Veda was living independently when she received a terminally ill diagnosis. After treatment and a stay in skilled nursing, she moved into our home for ongoing care. Between us and Michelle’s mother acting as full-time caregivers, we believed we could provide everything that Veda needed. However, as her condition declined, it became clear that she required more than we could offer. And Veda’s desire was to spend her final months enjoying her family’s company, rather than having us stressfully attempt to care for her growing needs.
We connected with a national placement service and a local placement agency. What followed were weeks of frustration.
The national service flooded us with calls from marketers pushing completely unsuitable facilities, with no understanding of Veda’s unique health challenges or end-of-life goals. The local agent merely sent us another list of facilities, and left us to navigate the process alone. Touring facilities by ourselves was heartbreaking and discouraging. None met Veda’s needs, and the burden of navigating the senior care system became overwhelming.
Emotionally exhausted, we brought Veda back to her own home and hired 24-hour care at astronomical cost. Her last months were overshadowed by the chaos of our care search, when all she desired were peaceful times with cherished family.
We started Gentle Hearts because families deserve an advocate–a compassionate expert–during the complex emotional journey of finding the right senior care placement.

We knew families like ours deserved better, and grew determined to provide that care for our community. Soon Gentle Hearts was born, founded to ensure that no family ever feels lost, burdened, or without guidance during what should be a time for connection, love, and peace.
We bring our whole hearts into every placement, knowing firsthand the pain of an impersonal, transactional process. We don’t just offer suggestions; we guide families through a professional, compassionate journey, making sure they feel supported, informed, and cared for every step of the way. This isn’t just our business; it’s our calling. We vowed to honor Veda’s memory by dedicating ourselves to creating the kind of experience we wish we’d had—one rooted in compassion, expertise, and genuine human connection.

Gentle Hearts completely lifted the burden from our shoulders: taking care of all details and paperwork, setting up tours, and helping us select a wonderful location for Mom. They even arranged for home health care, a mobile doctor and physical therapists. We are forever grateful.
